Bill Hayes (June 5, 1925 - January 12, 2024, b. William Foster Hayes III) was a highly acclaimed and veteran singer and actor who became famous beginning in the mid 1950s. Best known for the folksy "Ballad Of Davy Crockett" (1955), which topped the charts and became a million-seller, other hits include the playful "Wringle Wrangle" (1957). As an actor, Hayes is best known for his role as "Doug Williams" on NBC's long-running soap opera, "Days Of Our Lives," which he portrayed for over five decades beginning in 1970. His on-screen romance with co-star Susan Seaforth blossomed into a real-life marriage in 1974, further endearing him to fans. He appeared in various other TV shows and movies and was honored in 2018 with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Daytime Emmy Awards.
