Billy Eckstine (July 8, 1914 - March 8, 1993) was a highly acclaimed jazz/pop singer and bandleader with a distinctive rich baritone who became famous beginning in the mid 1940s as a solo artist and as the leader of his orchestra. His best known songs include "Prisoner Of Love" (1948), "My Foolish Heart" (1950), "I Wanna Be Loved" (1950), and "I Apologize" (1951). He was honored posthumously with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019.
