The Buggles were an English new wave band formed by Geoff Downes (keyboards, backing vocals) and Trevor Horn (bass, lead vocals) that became famous during the late 1970s and early 1980s. They are best known for the era-defining "Video Killed The Radio Star" (1979), which topped the charts in the U.K. and many other countries worldwide. This smash, which became a Top 40 hit in the U.S., was chosen as the song to launch MTV in 1981.
