William Randolph "Cozy" Cole (October 17, 1909 - January 9, 1981) was a highly acclaimed and veteran jazz drummer who, over his long career, played with such top artists as Louis Armstrong and Cab Calloway and also led his own groups. He is best known for the double-sided 1958 hit, "Topsy I"/"Topsy II," which features a long drum solo. "Topsy II" topped the R&B charts, made the Pop/Rock Top 5, and went gold.
