Dan Hartman (December 8, 1950 - March 22, 1994, b. Daniel Earl Hartman) was a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer who first became famous during the early 1970s as a member of the Edgar Winter Group. Best known as a solo artist for the soulful "I Can Dream About You" (1984), other top hits include the energetic "Instant Replay" (1978), the rousing "We Are The Young" (1984), and the Motown sound-alike "Second Nature" (1985). Hartman wrote and recorded "Free Ride" with the Edgar Winter Group, and he wrote/co-wrote such top hits for other artists as Loleatta Holloway's "Love Sensation" and James Brown's "Living In America."
