Dave Edmunds (b. 1944) is a highly acclaimed and veteran Welsh-born singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer who became famous during the 1970s as a solo artist and as a member of the English rock band, Rockpile. His best known songs include his smash hit cover of the Dave Bartholomew-penned "I Hear You Knocking" (1970), originally recorded in 1955 by New Orleans R&B singer Smiley Lewis.
