David Lasley (August 20, 1947 - December 9, 2021) was a highly acclaimed and veteran singer, songwriter, and highly sought-after session musician with an expressive falsetto who became famous as a recording artist during the early 1980s. He is best known for the soulful soft rocker, "If I Had My Wish Tonight" (1982), a Top 40 hit. Lasley served as a touring background singer for James Taylor and as a backing vocalist and songwriter, also worked with such top acts as Cher, Aretha Franklin, Bette Midler, Dusty Springfield, Dionne Warwick, and Whitney Houston.
