Deep River Boys

ABOUT

The Deep River Boys were a highly acclaimed and veteran gospel group formed at Hampton Institute (now Hampton University) in Virginia that became famous beginning in the 1940s. Their best known songs include the serene "Recess In Heaven" (1948). During World War II, they toured extensively for the USO entertaining US troops abroad. Their 1941 song, "They Look Like Men Of War," was selected in 2019 by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry.
