The Dream Academy was an English band consisting of Nick Laird-Clowes (singer, guitarist, songwriter), Kate St. John (multi-instrumentalist), and Gilbert Gabriel (keyboardist) with a unique sound combining folk rock and electronic music that became famous during the mid 1980s. Best known in the U.S. for the haunting and nostalgic ballad, "Life In A Northern Town" (1985), other hits include the hypnotic "The Love Parade" (1986).
