Eddie Heywood (December 4, 1915 - January 3, 1989, b. Edward Heywood Jr.) was a highly acclaimed jazz pianist and composer who became famous during the late 1940s and 1950s. He is best known for the swinging "Canadian Sunset" (1956), a self-penned pop/jazz standard with lyrics by Norman Gimbel. Heywood's own instrumental rendition was a Pop/Rock Top 5 hit which also made the R&B Top 10 and became his signature song. Other big hits include a cover of Cole Porter's "Begin The Beguine" (1945), "The House Of Blue Lights" (1946, with The Andrews Sisters), "Guilty" (1947, with Ella Fitzgerald), and the self-penned "Land Of Dreams" (1954) and "Soft Summer Breeze" (1956). Heywood's honors include a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
