Edward Byrnes


Edward Byrnes (July 30, 1932 - January 8, 2020), a.k.a. Edd Byrnes, was an actor famous for his starring role in the TV series, "77 Sunset Strip," as the hair-combing Gerald Lloyd "Kookie" Kookson III. He made a splash on the charts in 1959 with the Top 5 novelty smash, "Kookie, Kookie (Lend Me Your Comb)," performed with Connie Stevens as a playful dialog. Byrnes later played TV dance show host Vince Fontaine in the 1978 movie blockbuster, "Grease."
