Ernie Freeman (August 16, 1922 - May 16, 1981) was a Grammy-winning pianist, organist, bandleader, and arranger who became famous as a recording artist during the mid 1950s through early 1960s. He is best known for the instrumental smash, "Raunchy" (1957), which topped the R&B charts and made the Pop/Rock Top 5. He arranged many successful R&B and pop records from the 1950s to the 1970s. A highly sought-after session pianist and organist, he can be heard on The Platters' "The Great Pretender" and many other 1950s oldies classics.
