Five Red Caps

The 5 Red Caps was an early R&B vocal group formed in Los Angeles with a great deal of crossover appeal and many personnel changes that became famous during the 1940s and early 1950s. They are best known for the smooth ballad, "I Learned A Lesson, I'll Never Forget" (1944), a Top 20 Pop hit which made the Top 5 on both the Country and R&B charts. Other hits include their Top 20 cover of the pop standard, "I Went To Your Wedding" (1952, as Steve Gibson & The Original Red Caps), featuring Damita Jo.
