Flatt & Scruggs were a celebrated bluegrass duo consisting of singer/guitarist Lester Flatt (June 19, 1914 - May 11, 1979) and banjo player Earl Scruggs (January 6, 1924 - March 28, 2012) that became famous beginning in the late 1940s. Best known for the rollicking "The Ballad Of Jed Clampett" (1962) which was used as the theme song for the TV sitcom, "The Beverly Hillbillies," other hits include the Grammy-winning "Theme From Bonnie & Clyde (Foggy Mountain Breakdown" (1968), the title theme to the 1967 movie blockbuster starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway.
