The Gap Band

ABOUT

The Gap Band was a highly acclaimed R&B/funk group from Tulsa, OK with a great deal of crossover appeal that became famous during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Members included brothers Charlie, Ronnie, and Robert Wilson. They are best known for the R&B chart-toppers "Burn Rubber (Why You Wanna Hurt Me)" (1981), "Outstanding" (1982), and "Early In The Morning" (1982), the latter of which made the Pop/Rock Top 40. The Gap Band was honored as a BMI Icon at the 57th annual BMI Urban Awards in 2005.
