Hank Williams (Sept. 17, 1923 - Jan. 1, 1953) was a pioneering country star who became famous beginning in the 1940s. Although his life was tragically cut short at 29 by heart failure, he made a lasting impact on country music with such classics as "Hey, Good Lookin'" (1951) and "Your Cheatin' Heart" (1953). Two other signature songs, "Lovesick Blues" (1949) and "Jambalaya (On The Bayou)" (1952), both crossed over to the Pop charts and became Top 40 hits.
