Harry James (March 15, 1916 - July 5, 1983) was a hugely popular bandleader and trumpeter who became famous beginning in the late 1930s. His long string of hits through 1953 includes such chart-toppers as "Sleepy Lagoon" (1942), "I Had The Craziest Dream" (1942), "I've Heard That Song Before" (1943), "I'll Get By (As Long As I Have You)" (1944), "I'm Beginning To See The Light" (1945), and "It's Been A Long, Long Time" (1945). Featured vocalists included Rosemary Clooney, Doris Day, and Frank Sinatra.
