The Heartbeats

The Heartbeats were a doo-wop group led by James "Shep" Sheppard (later of Shep & The Limelites) that became famous during the late 1950s. Best known for the yearning "A Thousand Miles Away" (1956), other hits include "Everybody's Somebody's Fool" (1957, not to be confused with the same-named hit by Connie Francis). "A Thousand Miles Away" is featured in the soundtrack to "American Graffiti" (1973).
