Herbie Fields (May 24, 1919 - September 17, 1958) was a jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, and bandleader who became famous during the 1940s. His best known songs include the Top 20 novelty smash, "A Huggin' And A Chalkin'" (1947), with vocals provided by Fields. Sadly, he ended his life in 1958 at age 39 with an overdose of sleeping pills.
