The Hilltoppers

ABOUT

The Hilltoppers were a pop vocal group led by Jimmy Sacca (July 26, 1929 - March 7, 2015) that became famous during the 1950s. Formed by students at Western Kentucky State College (now Western Kentucky University) in Bowling Green, KY, the lineup at one time included pianist Billy Vaughn (April 12, 1919 - September 26, 1991) who later went on to become a famed orchestra leader and recording artist. The Hilltoppers' long string of hits includes the Vaughn-penned romantic ballad, "Trying" (1952), their million-seller cover of Rudy Vallee's "P.S. I Love You" (1953), and "Marianne" (1957), an adaptation of a traditional calypso song.
