Horst Jankowski - Songs

ABOUT

Horst Jankowski (January 30, 1936 - June 29, 1998) was a classically-trained German jazz pianist and composer with an easy listening style who became famous during the 1960s. He is best known internationally for the serene and catchy "A Walk In The Black Forest" (1965), a Top 20 Pop/Rock instrumental smash that topped the Adult Contemporary chart and became a million-seller.

Born in Berlin, Jankowski studied at the Berlin Music Conservatory and in the 1950s, established himself as a prominent jazz pianist in Germany, serving as a member of Kurt Hohenberger's orchestra, then as accompanist for singer Caterina Valente. After achieving international fame in 1965 with "A Walk In The Black Forest," he soon after released the million-seller album, "The Genius Of Jankowski." Over the years, he recorded a long string of albums covering easy listening, jazz, and his renditions of then-popular pop and rock hits.
