Indigo Girls are a veteran Grammy-winning folk rock duo consisting of singers/songwriters/guitarists Amy Ray (b. 1964) and Emily Saliers (b. 1963) with close-knit harmonies that became famous during the late 1980s and 1990s. Best known for the upbeat and catchy "Closer To Fine" (1989), a song about the search for meaning in life, other hits include "Galileo" (1992), a song about reincarnation, and "Shame On You" (1997), a protest song that critiques the racism and hypocrisy regarding immigration issues while celebrating Chicano culture.
