ABOUT

Information Society (aka InSoc) is a veteran electronic band from Minneapolis-Saint Paul, MN that became famous during the late 1980s and early 1990s. They are best known for "What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy)" (1988), which features a sample of Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) from "Star Trek" saying "pure energy." This dance smash topped the Billboard Dance chart and made the Billboard Hot 100 Top 5. The band's other major hits include "Walking Away" (1988), a song much like "What's On Your Mind" featuring vocal samples of Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and Scotty (James Doohan) from "Star Trek."
