Janice Harper (April 1, 1931 - May 21, 2016) was a traditional pop singer from Flushing, NY with clear, soaring soprano vocals who became famous during the late 1950s and early 1960s. She is best known for her hit covers of such romantic ballads as "Bon Voyage" (1957), "That's Why I Was Born" (1957), "Devotion" (1958), and "Cry Me A River" (1960), the latter made famous in 1955 by Julie London. Up through around the mid 1970s, Harper made a number of TV appearances on such programs as "American Bandstand," "The Ed Sullivan Show," "The Steve Allen Show," "The Mike Douglas Show," and "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson."
