ABOUT
The Jesters were a doo-wop group from New York City that became famous during late 1950s (not to be confused with the same-named 1940s group of "Sioux City Sue" fame). Formed by students at Cooper Junior High School in Harlem, the original lineup consisted of co-lead singers Adam Jackson (tenor, high falsetto) and Lenny McKay, with Anthony "Jimmy" Smith (second tenor), Leo Vincent (baritone), and Noel Grant (bass). Their best known songs include the romantic ballads, "So Strange" (1957) and "The Plea" (1958), both arranged by Dave "Baby" Cortez (of "The Happy Organ" fame).
