Jimmy Dorsey (February 29, 1904 - June 12, 1957) was a celebrated jazz clarinetist, saxophonist, composer, and big band leader who became famous beginning in the late 1920s as one of the Dorsey Brothers along with his brother Tommy. His long string of hits includes such chart toppers as "Amapola" (1941), "Green Eyes" (1941), and "Tangerine" (1942). He is considered one of the most influential alto saxophone players of the Big Band and Swing eras and beyond.
