John Stewart (September 5, 1939 - January 19, 2008) was a songwriter and a member of The Kingston Trio from 1961-1967. His many hit songs for other artists included The Monkees' smash hit, "Daydream Believer" (1967). As a solo artist, he had a Top 5 hit in 1979 with "Gold."
