Plas Johnson (b. July 21, 1931), also known as Johnny Beecher, is a highly acclaimed and veteran soul-jazz saxophonist who became famous beginning in the early 1960s as the soloist on Henry Mancini's "The Pink Panther Theme." As Johnny Beecher, he made a splash on the Pop/Rock charts with the 1963 instrumental hit, "Sax Fifth Avenue."
