Johnny Hodges (July 25, 1907 - May 11, 1970) was a highly acclaimed and veteran alto saxophonist and bandleader who became famous beginning in the late 1920s as a member of Duke Ellington's band, often serving as featured soloist. As a recording artist, his best known songs include such top hits as "A Sailboat In The Moonlight" (1937), "Prelude To A Kiss" (1938), and "Castle Rock" (1951).
