Judy Clay (September 12, 1938 - July 19, 2001) was a veteran soul/gospel singer and former member of The Sweet Inspirations who became famous as a solo artist during the late 1960s. She is best known for the 1968 hit duets, "Country Girl - City Man" (with Billy Vera) and "Private Number" (with William Bell). Over her long career, she also provided backing vocals for such artists as Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway, Van Morrison, and Wilson Pickett.
