Lale Anderson

Lale Anderson (March 23, 1905 - August 29, 1972)) was a female German-born singer-songwriter and actress who first became internationally famous during the early 1940s for her rendition of "Lili Marleen," which was especially popular among both Axis and Allied troops during World War II. She is best known in the U.S. for "(A Ship Will Come) Ein Schiff Wird Kommen" (1961), a German version of the title song from "Never On Sunday" (1960) starring Melina Mercouri.
