Larry Carlton (b. 1948) is a veteran Grammy-winning jazz guitarist and composer who began as a studio musician performing and recording with such acts as Michael Jackson, Joni Mitchell, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Steely Dan before becoming famous as a solo artist during the early 1980s. He is best known for the Top 10 instrumental smash, "The Theme From Hill Street Blues" (1981, as Mike Post Featuring Larry Carlton).
