Larry Elgart (March 20, 1922 - August 29, 2017) was a highly acclaimed and veteran jazz bandleader and alto saxophonist who, along with his brother, Les Elgart, became famous beginning in the 1940s. As a recording artist, he is best known for the Top 40 smash instrumental, "Hooked On Swing" (1982), a medley of "In The Mood," "Cherokee," and other swing jazz standards. With brother Les, he recorded "Bandstand Boogie," the theme to Dick Clark's "American Bandstand."
