LaVerne & Shirley was a long-running (1976-1983) TV sitcom starring Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams as Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney, two friends and roommates who work at a fictitious brewery in Milwaukee, WI from the late 1950s to early 1960s. Marshall and Williams (as LaVerne & Shirley) made a splash on the Pop/Rock charts in 1976 with their comedic hit cover of the Connie Stevens oldies classic, "Sixteen Reasons."
