Layng Martine (b. James Layng Martine Jr.) is a highly acclaimed and veteran songwriter who became famous as a performing artist during the early 1970s. Best known for the upbeat and catchy "Rub It In" (1971), a self-penned country classic that has also been recorded over the years by many other artists, Martine also had a minor hit on the Country charts with "Summertime Lovin'" (1976). His songwriting credits for other artists also include Elvis Presley's "Way Down," The Pointer Sisters' "Should I Do It," and Trisha Yearwood's "I Wanna Go Too Far." He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2013.
