Lena Horne (June 30, 1917 - May 9, 2010) was a highly acclaimed and groundbreaking jazz/pop singer, actress, dancer, and civil rights activist who became famous beginning in the late 1930s. Best known for her smash rendition of the torch song, "Stormy Weather" (1943), the title theme to the movie in which she starred and performed, other hits include "One For My Baby (And One More For The Road)" (1945), "'Deed I Do" (1948), "Love Me Or Leave Me" (1955), and "Now!" (1963). In addition to "Stormy Weather" (1943), she appeared in "Cabin In The Sky" (1943) and many other movie musicals. In 1981, she starred in her critically acclaimed one-woman Broadway show, "Lena Horne: The Lady And Her Music."
