Leroy Holmes (September 22, 1913 - July 27, 1986, b. Alvin LeRoy Holmes) was a songwriter, composer, arranger, conductor, and producer who became famous as a recording artist during the mid 1950s. He is best known for his instrumental Top 10 rendition of "The High And The Mighty" (1954), the title theme from the movie starring John Wayne that features whistling throughout (provided by Fred Lowery).
