Les Baxter (March 14, 1922 - January 15, 1996) was a highly acclaimed and veteran bandleader, pianist, arranger, and composer who became famous during the 1950s. His long string of hits includes his chart-topping rendition of the pop standard, "Unchained Melody" (1955), which later became one of The Righteous Brothers' signature songs, and "The Poor People Of Paris" (1956), which also topped the charts.
