Marty Balin (January 30, 1942 - September 27, 2018) was a highly acclaimed rock singer, songwriter, and co-founder of Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, and the KBC Band who became famous as a solo artist during the early 1980s. His best known songs include "Hearts" (1981), a Top 10 hit. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 along with other members of Jefferson Airplane.
