Marva Whitney (May 1, 1944 - December 22, 2012) was an R&B singer with powerful brassy vocals who became famous during the late 1960s. She is best known for the funky and sassy "It's My Thing (You Can't Tell Me Who To Sock It To" (1969), an answer song to the Isley Brothers' "It's Your Thing."
