Maurice White (December 19, 1941 - February 4, 2016) was a Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, and arranger who formed Earth, Wind & Fire and served as the band's co-lead singer along with Philip Bailey. As a solo artist, White's best known songs include his 1985 hit cover of Ben E. King's "Stand By Me."
