Walter Maynard Ferguson CM (May 4, 1928 - August 23, 2006) was a veteran Canadian jazz trumpeter and bandleader who came to prominence in Stan Kenton's orchestra before forming his own big band in 1957. As a recording artist, he is best known for the Top 40 instrumental smash, "Gonna Fly Now (Theme From 'Rocky')" (1977), as featured in the soundtrack to the movie blockbuster, "Rocky" (1976), starring Sylvester Stallone.
