Mitchell Ayres (December 24, 1909 - September 5, 1969) was an orchestra leader, music arranger, and composer who became famous during the early 1940s. His many hits with his backing band, Fashions In Music, include the chart-topping "Make-Believe World" (1940). Beginning in the late 1940s, he served as Perry Como's longtime musical director before becoming the conductor for "The Hollywood Palace" in 1964.
