Nona Hendryx is a highly acclaimed and veteran singer, producer, songwriter, musician, and author who became famous beginning in the early 1960s as a member of Patti LaBelle & The Blue Belles (later LaBelle of "Lady Marmalade" fame). After the group disbanded in 1977, Hendryx launched a solo career, releasing her self-titled debut album in 1977 followed by "Nona" (1983), which includes the hits, "Keep It Confidential" and "Transformation," the latter of which became her signature song. Other top hits include the anguished "Why Should I Cry?" (1987), an R&B Top 5 smash and her greatest Pop/Rock crossover success.
