Patti Smith is a highly acclaimed singer, songwriter, poet, and visual artist who became an integral part of the New York City punk rock movement beginning in the mid 1970s. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007 and was also a recipient of the 2011 Polar Music Prize.
