ABOUT
Clyde Julian "Red" Foley (June 17, 1910 - September 19, 1968) was a highly acclaimed and hugely popular country and gospel music singer who became famous beginning in the mid 1940s. Best known for his smash cover of "Chattanoogie Shoe Shine Boy" (1950), which topped both the Pop and Country charts, other big hits include "Cincinnati Dancing Pig" (1950) and the patriotic "Smoke On The Water" (1944, not to be confused with the same-named Deep Purple hit). He was a long-time member of the Grand Ole Opry, and his numerous other honors included being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1967.
