Richard "Red" Skelton (July 18, 1913 - September 17, 1997) was a comedian and actor with a long career in radio, TV, and film who hosted his own variety show from 1951-1971. He made a splash on the Pop/Rock charts in 1969 with his earnest monologue, "The Pledge Of Allegiance."
