Richard Barrett (July 14, 1933 - August 3, 2006) was an influential R&B singer, songwriter, and producer who discovered and promoted such top acts as The Chantels, Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers, Little Anthony & The Imperials, and The Three Degrees. His best known songs include his 1958 hit R&B remake of the pop standard, "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes," and "Summer's Love" (1959, with The Chantels). From 1954-1957, he served as lead singer for The Valentines.
