Rita Coolidge (b. 1945) is a Grammy-winning singer and songwriter who became famous beginning in the late 1960s and, over her long career, has covered pop, rock, country, and a wide variety of other genres. Her best known songs include her smash ballad remake of Jackie Wilson's "(Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher And Higher" (1977).
