ABOUT
Roy Hamilton (April 16, 1929 - July 20, 1969) was an R&B/traditional pop singer with a flair for ballads who became famous during the 1950s and early 1960s. Best known for "Unchained Melody" (1955), an early hit rendition of this oldies classic later made famous by The Righteous Brothers which topped the R&B charts and made the Pop/Rock Top 10, other big hits include "Don't Let Go" (1958) and "You Can Have Her" (1961). Co-written by Alex North and Hy Zaret, "Unchained Melody" is the title theme to the 1955 prison movie, "Unchained." Two other versions - by Les Baxter and Al Hibbler - also made the Pop/Rock Top 10 that year, and since then, an astounding 1,500+ recordings of this beloved pop standard have been made by over 670 artists in different languages.
